The glossy’s annual “Best Nursing Homes” edition hits the stands this morning. Whatever you think of the metrics, there are certainly some cool toys at the site—everything from a search-by-ZIP code to tips on financing care.
But what’s probably the most noteworthy for providers is the tip of the hat from list editor Avery Comarow.
“The rising number of five-star homes is encouraging,” he says. “It speaks to care that is steadily becoming more skilled and compassionate.”
U.S. News dipped into the ole Nursing Home Compare data well. That, as providers know already, shows that the number of 5-Star centers has grown, from 19 percent to 25 percent. (Bill Myers is a senior editor at Provider. E-mail him at email@example.com, or follow him on Twitter, @ProviderMyers.)
