Something for Everyone, Quality Tonight…

Quality.NCAL.AHCAGood morning, ProviderNation.

Many here on the decadent East coast—even us hearty Midwestern/Northeastern transplants—are finding the charms of nature running thin.

Sorry, had to get that off my chest.

On to the good news: The fine folks at AHCA/NCAL are looking for a few good caretakers. The groups are looking for entries for their quality awards.

Assited living or skilled nursing centers can win recognition by meeting one of AHCA/NCAL’s four quality goals: reducing hospital readmissions by 15 percent or more, keeping nursing turnover below 30 percent, bringing in their customer satisfaction surveys above 90 percent and cutting down on the off-label use of antipsychotics by 15 percent or more.

The folks over at AHCA/NCAL take their quality seriously (Felix Unger seriously), and they’ve been at this recognition plan for a while. But, given the nasty-gram the profession received yesterday about “adverse events” in rehab centers, it couldn’t be better timed. (Bill Myers is Provider’s senior editor.
